As your childs' first teacher, you play a big part in how well your son or daughter does in school.
Our program would not be complete without the partnership of our qualified teachers and our student’s parents. As a parent, you are the most important person and influence in your child’s life. At Curious Kids, we feel it is essential for parents and teachers to support each other in the learning process. Staying involved in your child’s education is the key to a successful year.
THE TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF AT Curious Kids Daycare ARE UNITED IN THEIR BELIEF THAT ALL CHILDREN:
At Curious Kids, we apply the knowledge of child development, learning styles and Pennsylvania state standards to our curriculum and policies to ensure that our programs are developmentally appropriate for each individual student. Children are provided a safe environment where they learn through active exploration, interaction with other children and adult guidance. All programs are child-centered; fostering the development of creativity, self-confidence, independence, respect for self and others, communication and school readiness. Our primary goal is to help maximize each child’s learning potential in all areas of development: social, emotional, physical and intellectual. We will accomplish this goal through teaching him/her how to learn by supporting the natural brain development and by providing a safe and engaging environment for both students and teachers.
To maximize each child’s learning potential in all areas of development: social, emotional, physical and intellectual, through teaching him/her how to learn by supporting the brain development that is naturally occurring and by providing an enriched, engaging environment for both students and teachers.
Our curriculum is based on curriculum, PA learning standards, and the actual assessments. We believe that wholesome learning with an emphasis on creativity is necessary for children to develop socially, intellectually, and emotionally, especially since technology in today’s society has reduced the need for children to be creative in order to entertain themselves. At The Children’s Place Preschool we believe that the skills a child needs to be successful when they are older should be developed as soon as possible. This is why creativity remains a strong element throughout the year. A few examples that show this philosophy are our yearly winter performing shows, countless art projects, trips, puppet theatres and many more.
MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION: Teaching Students to Know, Care & Act Our curriculum is also designed to develop and foster a democratic and just society. Knowledge and action are needed to develop a commitment to change. The rapid growth in the nation’s population of people of color, the escalating importance of non-white nations (China, Japan, India) and the widening gap between the rich & the poor make it essential for future citizens to have multicultural literacy & cross-cultural skills. A nation’s whose citizens cannot negotiate on the world’s multicultural global stage are tremendously disadvantaged.
SPECIAL NEEDS To better address & service the diverse set of needs of each of the children in our program, it is important to gather as much information about the best way to engage, stimulate and educate each child. If a child has an IEP or IFSP, we request copies, review the information with the classroom teachers, and work together with the specialists to ensure that the guidelines are put into practice and the goals & objectives are met. All specialists listed on a child’s IEP/IFSP are welcome and encouraged to join us in the classroom to help guarantee a unified effort in that child’s growth and development.
